I have recently finished the book called Pictures of Hollis Woods by:Patricia Giff, it is about a girl who's name is Hollis woods and she was abandoned an hour later that she was born, as one of her foster homes her "brother" dies she suffers the most anyone could suffer because she was about to have a family but then they decided to go and climb they mountain and he had died while she survived so she ran away because she felt crazy gulity. After some more foster homes she has a home where she meets a nice single lady who loves to draw but has a disease that makes her lose her memory as each day goes on this makes Hollis woods have to take care of her which she enjoys. As the agency comes to check up on them each month, the agent decides that she is losing her memory so they're gonna take her away so together they run away back to the Regan's house where they stay so that they don't get caught.
My character is a really nice person. I feel like she deserves to be happy because she suffered a lot and right when everything was starting to go the way she wanted to she made a decision that she would regret forever but it was done, they're was nothing she could do.Hollis also learns that little by little that if you don't trust someone then you will never ever be ok.She also learns that having problems or having differences doesn't make you awkward from the rest it makes you shine.A lot of times in the book she is sneaky or shy she is shy because she doesn't like to talk to her self and she doesn't like that her mom abandoned her an hour right after that she was born.She is sneaky because she steals stuff from the store to survive and she takes stuff from kids in the park or from strollers when the people aren't looking.Hollis also has a guilty feeling throughout the book thinking that it's her fault throughout the whole book the her new brother died because she was the smarter one and she knew that the right thing to do was not to go but she went anyway thinking that nothing was going to happen.
The thing that influences my author the most was her foster home mother because her mother was always happy and always but a smile on her face.She also told her that it wasn't her fault and because of her is the reason of why that Hollis even got to stay in the foster home house because she wanted her child to be a daughter but it was a son and she couldn't have anymore children. She influences my character a lot because she taught her to never give up and to keep on going she also gave her the hope and trust that she had always needed in her life and most of all she gave her a mother's love, which no one had ever gave her and she felt like she was born there with her.The impact of this is positive because she taught her that no matter what that they're was always someone that she could trust or someone that would give her the love that she needed.Also her foster mother helped her a long the way and gave her a lot to think about.
From the beginning to the story to the end I think that my character changed a lot I think that Hollis Wood trusted more and wasn't so afraid to say that she was from the place Hollis Woods and that's why it was her name.She didn't like to talk a lot at the beginning but at the end she noticed that if you talk to people about how your feeling then you feel better your self.Also she noticed that she wasn't the only one that was going through the same thing they're was more than she ever could have imagined.
